ABOUT US

Cognitive harness is a mental health service that provides cognitive therapy to those experiencing any of the anxiety and depressive disorders. It was originally set up to teach those with a number of depressive and anxiety disorders non-pharmacological alternative treatments; called 'Cognitive techniques', that one can use to self-manage their mental health symptoms independent of any clinical professional intervention such as being prescribed anti-depressant/tranquiliser medication and/or referrals and appointments to see a psychiatrist or psychologist.

As has been emphasised on our home page these alternative techniques are purely techniques where one uses their mind to heal their mind

This service is provided by a Meditation Practitioner, Cognitive Therapy Practitioner, Molecular Biologist and Author; who is a member of the 'Institute of Biological Life Sciences' at the University of Glasgow. It is also by definition a 'peer support service' as the practitioner has lived with; and conquered independently of others, Major Depressive Disorder and a number of anxiety disorders using a number of cognitive techniques where he teaches these to others to use them the way he used them to conquer his mental health complaints.

All techniques are taught on a one to one basis through appointment or through the attending of public courses. Consultations and Courses are free but donations are needed in order to fund the service.

At Cognitive Harness we also look towards not just teaching people cognitive techniques to conquer mental health complaints but also for the purpose of the personal development of others. For example, you may have a fear of public speaking; being promoted to a position where you have authority over others; attending and performing at any event/activity where you will be under the watch and evaluation of others, or simply just getting out and meeting and conversing with new people. If like most people you struggle with these life skills; or any other, then we can help you overcome the anxiety and lack of self-belief that gets in the way of your continued development.
