   COGNITIVE HARNESS

"Bringing Freedom from Anxiety & Depression by providing light at the end of the tunnel"

Cognitive Harness is a donation funded service that provides free of charge mental health symptom management support and advocacy services to those experiencing one of the depressive or anxiety disorders.

At Cognitive Harness we train those with mental health conditions to take control of their own symptom management by teaching our clients a number of techniques known as ‘Cognitive techniques’. Cognitive techniques involve the client using their mind to treat their mental health symptoms. Examples of cognitive techniques taught to clients for the purpose of mental health symptom self-management are  'Distraction' for Generalized Anxiety Disorder; 'Mental Rehearsal' for Phobia; 'Meditation' for depression/rage/anxiety and many other techniques. The service is funded by client donations where a client is free to leave a donation of an amount of their choosing.

The practitioner who teaches these techniques has used these techniques to successfully treat the depressive and anxiety disorders that he was once affected by making Cognitive Harness by definition a 'peer support service'. The practitioner has also been a mental health symptom management trainer for 'Epilepsy Connections' between 2005-2007 and 2017-2018, as well as, taught mental health symptom management as part of a course funded by Greater Glasgow Health Board between 2004-2009 and Berkshire Health Board between 2009-2012. The practitioner is also an experienced advocate who ran his own Advocacy charity primarily for people with neurological disability where many of these people had very complex mental health needs. The practioner ran this charity for three years where he successfully resolved 120 cases of people with disability and mental health conditions being treated awfully by the authorities e.g. housing association, social work, support work organisation, employer, educator etc. If you are in conflict with an authority over a matter related to mental health or physical disability then Cogntive Harness can help you resolve this conflict.

The Cogntive Practitioner Mr Tim Bone is a member of the 'Criminal Disclosure Scotland PVG Scheme'
